CulDeChat Terms of Service
Effective date: November 1, 2026
Agreement between you and Direct Innovations LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("CulDeChat," "we," "us").
By creating an account or using CulDeChat, you agree to these Terms and our Community Guidelines. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Who can use CulDeChat
- You must be 18 or older.
- You may have one personal account.
- You may only verify an address where you actually live, a property you own, or (Premium) another person's home with their approval.
2. Your account
- Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- Information you give us must be accurate, including your home location.
- If you move, update your home and verify the new address.
3. Community rules
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines. In short: be honest, be respectful, protect other people's privacy, and use "urgent" only for real urgent situations.
4. Your content
- You own what you post. You give us a license to host, display, and share it with the people you share it with, only to run CulDeChat.
- You're responsible for what you post. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
- We may remove content and limit or close accounts that break these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
5. Not an emergency service
CulDeChat is not a replacement for 911 or emergency services. Urgent alerts and notifications may be delayed or not delivered. In an emergency, call 911 first.
6. Beta and subscriptions
- CulDeChat is in beta. Features may change, and the service may occasionally be unavailable.
- Beta testers may receive paid features for free during the beta.
- When paid plans launch, Plus and Premium will be auto-renewing subscriptions sold through the App Store or Google Play, monthly or yearly. Payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms; cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge. We'll show prices in the app and tell you before they change.
7. Reporting, blocking, and moderation
- You can report posts, comments, messages, and users, and block anyone.
- We review reports and act on them, usually within 48 hours.
- Around Town suggestions are reviewed before they're published.
- We may use automated filters to stop objectionable content.
8. Badges
Badges (such as Verified neighbor or Helpful neighbor) are based on activity and can change or be paused, for example after a moderator acts on a report. They don't give anyone special powers in the app.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account anytime (Account → Delete my account, or see culdechat.app/delete-account). We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.
10. Disclaimers and limits
- CulDeChat is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee that information posted by users is accurate, or that the service will always be available.
- We aren't responsible for interactions between users, online or in person. Use good judgment when meeting neighbors.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months or $50.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version here and notify you in the app before significant changes take effect.
